Dog abandoned in crate on side of Virginia road

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach Animal Control investigators are seeking information about the owner of a dog left in a ditch on Saturday.

Around 7:30 a.m. on May 14, someone called Emergency Communications concerned about a dog in a crate on the side of the road in the 3600 block of Winston Avenue.

An Animal Control officer responded to the area and found the dog in a crate in the ditch. Authorities described the dog as an older, tri-colored female beagle with a large tumor on her left side.

Investigators are now asking for the public’s help for any information about the dog or the dog’s owner. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Virginia Beach Crime Solvers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (1-888-562-5887).

This incident remains under investigation.
