NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – Charlie Bannister was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree arson after deputies said he got into an argument with his girlfriend and used gasoline to set the home on fire.
Deputies said in a news release that Bannister, 47, poured gasoline in the bedroom and throughout the house. They added that the incident stemmed from a domestic situation that escalated between Bannister and his girlfriend. Nobody was injured.
The district attorney’s office may bring additional charges on Bannister.
On May 4, the Craven County Fire Marshall’s Office and Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential fire at 147 Saints Delight Church Road on lot 4 in the Bridgeton community.
An investigation led to the arrest of Bannister two weeks later.
