FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WNCT) – The East Carolina men’s golf team sits in eighth place with an eight-under-par 568 after two rounds of play in the 2016 NCAA Franklin Regional Championships at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.
The Pirates shot a one-over-par 289 on Tuesday, dropping six spots in the team standings after holding down second place through the first 18 holes on Monday.
ECU is six strokes behind Vanderbilt and Kennesaw State, which are tied for fourth place. Following Wednesday’s third round, the top five teams will advance to the NCAA Championship finals May 27-June 1 in Eugene, Ore.
Seeded 11th, East Carolina was led by sophomore Tim Conover’s two-under-par 70, as he made up ground with three of his four birdies on the day coming on the final six holes. He currently ranks tied for 11th place on the individual leaderboard through 36 holes.
Senior Al Dickens finished even-par for the day with four birdies for the round, whileWes Conover bounced back from a pair of double bogeys to finish one-over-par on the day. Jackson Spires shot a 74 in round two, while Jacob Hicks finished three-over-par at 75.
Third round play will commence at 8:30 a.m., on Wednesday.
