Area families participate in National Stamp Out Hunger Day

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Families in Pitt County worked to stamp out hunger Saturday morning.

9 On Your Side drove around Greenville and saw dozens of homes with plastic bags filled with canned goods. The food picked up will be given to area non-profits.

The most requested items include cereal, pasta, canned fruits, vegetables, peanut butter and soup.

If your donation wasn’t not picked up on Saturday, contact your local post office or just put the donations back in your mailbox on Monday.

Last year the food drive, nationally, collected almost 71 million pounds of food.
