Kids get a first hand look into the great outdoors

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Kids got their hands dirty and explored the outdoors at a Sound Rivers event at River Park North Saturday.

Hundreds of children learned how to fish, kayak, and just enjoy the warm summer-like weather.

Parents said it is important for them to teach their children that there is more to life than video games, cell phones and television.

Joe Nimeskern hopes this will open the eyes of his three kids to the great outdoors and maybe they will love it like he does.

“We just went fishing and saw some people catch some things and just walking outside and smelling the clean air and be able to do some kayaking,” said Nimeskern.

River Park North said they will have events all summer for children to come and just have fun while learning more about the outdoors.
