Wounded Warrior Battalion teaches students how to overcome anything in life

NEWPORT, N.C. (WNCT) – Dozens of middle school students learned what it would actually be like to play a sport and be wheelchair bound on Thursday.

Newport Middle School invited the Wounded Warrior Battalion to the festivities. They showed students that you can overcome any obstacle in life.

Over 100 students played basketball while being wheelchair-bound.

Jeffrey Rymoff says he was wounded while serving in Afghanistan and he got back on his feet and continued pushing.

“It’s so important to show them at a young age that you have overcome disabilities even at a young age with a broken or hurting yourself. You can pick yourself up and keep on moving,” Rymoff said.

The Wounded Warriors have visited the school twice and say they can’t wait to come back again.
