Jacksonville pet adoption event helping animals find a forever home

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – If anyone has been on the verge of giving a furry friend its forever home, this weekend’s big adoption event might sway that decision.

Onslow County Animal Services will hold one of their largest adoption events of the year. It stars Friday at the PetSmart in Jacksonville and runs through Sunday. All animals will be up to date on vaccines, micro-chipped and spayed or neutered.

Lacie Whitted, a shelter spokeswoman, says they’re hoping to break record numbers for their adoptions.

“Last year, we had over a hundred animals adopted. So, we’re really hoping to repeat that again,” added Whitted.

She says dogs will be $100 and cats will cost $80. Adoption events will also take place in New Bern and Greenville. For more information, the PetSmart Charities website.
