Amber Alert canceled | Carlie Trent found, uncle Gary Simpson in custody

ROGERSVILLE, TN (WATE) – UPDATE: The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says Carlie Trent has been found and her uncle Gary Simpson is in custody. Officials say the two were found in the Clinch Mountain area, around 20 miles from where she was kidnapped, near the Hancock County line.

Rogersville Police Chief Doug Nelson told our sister station WJHL that Carlie is on the way to the hospital as a precautionary measure. He said private citizens found her and Gary Simpson off Highway 70 North in the Clinch Valley area, detained them and called law enforcement.


The Amber Alert has been cancelled. TBI is scheduled to hold a media conference at 6:15 p.m.
