Some NC hospitals improve in safety score rankings

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Eastern North Carolina Hospitals were ranked once again by an independent organization for its twice a year safety score rankings.

The Leapfrog Group releases ratings during the fall and spring.

Onslow Memorial Hospital received an A. It is the same score it had both times last year.

CarolinaEast Medical Center also received an A for Spring 2016 and that is up from a C grade in Spring 2015.

Lenoir Memorial Hospital earned a C. That is a slight improvement from Fall 2015 where it earned a D grade.

Vidant Medical Center earned a C grade which is up from what it scored this time last year.

The rankings factor in patient care and infection rates found in data from federal agencies. Infections are common in hospitals.
