Craven Co. Schools name Christy Wilson as Teacher of the Year

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – Dozens of Craven County educators walked a red carpet to the Teacher of the Year event Tuesday.

Five candidates were among those in the crowded room.

A County School board member then announced that Christy Wilson from Ben D. Quinn Elementary would take home the title this year. Wilson teaches fifth grade.

“It feels really good, it’s nice to be recognized for that, but even better just to see that I’m making a difference in the county,” Wilson said, adding how she felt about her hard work paying off.

She’ll now compete in the state teacher of the year finals.
