Conley comes back to beat New Bern, clinches tie for league crown

GREENVILLE (WNCT) – DH Conley scored three unanswered goals in the second half to rally past New Bern, 3-1 and clinch at least a tie for the championship in the Eastern Carolina 4A-3A conference.

New Bern finally opened the scoring early in the second half, when Mary Doban beat the Viking keeper for a 1-0 Bear’s lead.

Conley rallied from there. First, Emma Jane Cole connected on a penalty kick to tie the game. Rachel Bewick followed with a goal to give Conley at 2-1 lead.

The Vikings clinched the win when Sami McLaughlin headed home a pass from Haven Best.

Conley improved to 10-0-1 in league play, while New Bern fell to 8-3.
