Pitt Co. complex finalist for Great Place for Healthy Living Award

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Pitt County could soon be home to a 2016 Great Places in NC Award.

The County Home Complex is one of 6 finalists for the Great Place for Healthy Living Award. It’s the only finalist in the East.

The complex includes Alice Keene Park, the community garden, the animal shelter, the recycling center, and more.

“You can come out, drop your recyclables off, come over for a walk in the park, go pick up some fresh fruits and vegetables over at the farmer’s market, you can even go look at a potential pet you might want to pick up from the animal shelter,” said Pitt County Planning Director James Rhodes.

Voting runs from May 2 through May 13. Click here to vote.
