GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Two teens are charged with filing a false police report after officers responded to a Greenville apartment for a report of a female shot.
A Greenville Police Department spokesman said Wednesday that it all started at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.
When officers arrived at the apartment on 1112 E 10th Street, they found a female victim outside waiting on EMS to arrive. She was taken to Vidant Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Witnesses told officers that there was a dispute in the apartment below the victim’s apartment and a gun was fired. The bullet then traveled through the ceiling of the apartment below and struck the victim, who was sitting on her couch.
Police said all the occupants in the downstairs apartment left the scene prior to their arrival. Detectives are interviewing everyone involved though. They’ve also executed a search warrant, which turned up various narcotics and ammunition, but no gun. The occupants of the downstairs apartment originally claimed that they were robbed, but it was determined that they made the story up.
19-year-old Brittany Milligan of Greenville and 18-year-old David Nichols of Farmville were both charged with filing a false police report. They were held at the Pitt County Detention Center under a $1,000 bond.
Detectives are still investigating the case. More charges are pending.
