GREENVILLE, NC (WCNT) – Local experts are urging you to talk to your family before your loved one experiences a health emergency.
During a special program on Monday Carolina East Health System and the Crystal Coast End of Life Coalition talked about health care planning.
Experts said you need to talk about executing a living will as well as a health care power of attorney. Panelists explained to people why they should be involved in their end of life plans. They said everyone should be able to make decisions about their life and it’s best to do it before something happens.
Mary Lou Infinito with Vidant Health said, “Everyone should have an advance directive, but the biggest piece of advice is you should be talking to your families about what matters most to you so that they know.”
Monday’s event was held at McCarthy Court in New Bern.
