City of Greenville tables GUC raises until May meeting

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The Greenville City Council tabled the discussion about potential pay raises at a joint Greenville/GUC meeting Monday evening.

Mayor Allen Thomas said the board would like to take a closer look at how the pay increases would impact rates and services in the community before making a decision. He added that the increase recommended by GUC’s board of 3% would mean millions of tax dollars for the City of Greenville. Thomas said the board agreed to look at a breakdown before voting on the increase.

The city council will discuss the raises at the next meeting in May. GUC says the 3% increase in pay will make the company competitive with other similar businesses.
