WASHINGTON (AP) – Under pressure to respond, Republicans controlling Congress appear to be giving in to President Obama’s request to fund efforts to prevent a Zika outbreak in the U.S.
The virus, mainly spread by mosquitoes, can cause severe birth defects including abnormally small heads.
Obama sought $1.9 billion. A measure being circulated would provide $1.1 billion.
