NAACP sit-in to protest House Bill 2 to take place in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCT) – The North Carolina NAACP says they’re going to make their voices heard when the General Assembly returns to work.

A mass sit-in and the 3rd Anniversary Moral Monday rally will be held at the state capitol on Monday, April 25.

The sit-in is scheduled for 4 p.m. and will protest House Bill 2. Equality North Carolina and The Human Rights Campaign will hold a news conference as well.

Below is a statement from the NAACP’s event Facebook page:

We will send waves of voters into the People’s House to seek out their representatives and “instruct them” according to the State Constitution’s express statement of our rights and duties. We will peacefully petition them to repeal this bill, which is a transparent pretext to scare some of our people, who probably never heard the word “transgendered” before.
