NORTH TOPSAIL BEACH, N.C. (WNCT) – In North Topsail Beach, the Board of Aldermen met Tuesday for their budget workshop.
They discussed numerous issues, including increasing public parking, hearing from town department heads and a feasibility study to replace the South End Fire Station.
The Assistant Town Manager, Carin Faulkner, said the fire department has consistently reminded the board of the need for a replacement building for the South End Fire Station. She said the study would look at options to reduce issues the fire station has during severe storms.
“It’s flooded every time we’ve had a bad rain or storm. It’s flooded several times and we’ve had to actually remove the outside and insulation a couple times and repair that,” said Faulkner.
The board did approve moving forward with that study and their meeting lasted for nearly five hours before they decided they would reconvene on May 3 to have a second budget workshop with more discussion. They also plan to talk more about the ocean projects for the north end of the island at that workshop.
