Kinston man shot in February facing felony possession charges

KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) – A Kinston man who survived being shot back in February is now facing felony possession charges.

Kinston Police arrested 21-year-old Jamie Artis and charged him with possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm by felon. He’s being held on $250,000 secured bond.

His arrest follows a shots fired call on the 300 block of South Davis St on Monday.  When officers arrived on the scene, witnesses told them a red Chevrolet Cobalt, occupied by four black males, fired several shots, then headed toward Lincoln St.

Officers later found a vehicle matching the description of the one involved in the shooting near the 3 building in St. John’s Village.

When they tried to make contact with four subjects near the vehicle, they fled the scene, but officers caught up with of the subjects, Artis, who was taken into custody.

In February, Artis was shot on Pollock Street. He was treated at Vidant Medical Center and released.
