Arrest made in Edgecombe Co. murder

ELM CITY, N.C. (WNCT) – A Rocky Mount man is facing charges in connection with a murder in Edgecombe County.

It happened at a home in the 5,200 block of Temperance Hall Road just before 8 Tuesday night.

Deputies with the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office said the victim, William Holland, was found stabbed to death inside.

Charles Morris of Rocky Mount was arrested around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning in connection with the crime. He’s facing a first-degree murder charge, along with robbery and larceny of a motor vehicle.

9 On Your Side was the only crew at the scene as deputies searched for the suspect. They said the motive in the incident was robbery.

Morris allegedly stole Holland’s car and a BOLO was issued soon after. It has since been found.
