Police investigating overnight Kinston armed robbery

KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) – Police are investigating an overnight armed robbery.

Jonathan Lee, was arrested and charged with one count of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and received a $1,000,000 secured bond, according to the Kinston Department of Public Safety.

It happened at the Kangaroo station located at 2011 West Vernon Ave. in Kinston.

When officers arrived on the scene just after 2:30 Thursday morning, a witness told them a black male entered the store, wearing a mask, acted as if he had a gun in his coat, and demanded the money from the cash register.

The clerk turned over the money and the suspect fled the scene in a black four-door Mercedes Benz.

This incident remains under investigation.
