PCS & Sheppard Memorial Library create student library card program

GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) – It’s National School Library Week, and districts in eastern Carolina are adding new programs to get students into public libraries.

Pitt County Schools partnered with Sheppard Memorial Library to register students for free library cards linked to their student ID. The cards allow students 24-7 access to the library’s online resources.

“E-books, e-audio books, NC Life and all the databases, full-text magazine articles, information on finding a book to read. All of this is free,” said Tammy Fulcher of Sheppard Memorial Library.

The program also allows students access to the online databases where they can find full-text articles, videos, books and literary criticisms.

Fulcher said they’re already seeing an increase in the number of students coming into the library.
