Food Lion helps 200 Greenville families put food on the table

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Two hundred Greenville families now have fresh food on their dinner table. Food Lion packed bags full with fresh fruit and vegetables.

Residents picked up the bags at the Salvation Army.

“It’s a blessing when the community can give back to the people that are inside the community and it’s free of charge,” said Antwan Anderson, food recipient.

Ruby Anderson, also a food recipient, said she’s never been to anything like this.

“It’s exciting, you know. I ain’t never been anything like this, but it’s exciting, to be ready to come here today get in line take a picture. I just enjoyed that. I loved that,” said Anderson.

The company gives away fresh produce to more than 1,000 families in different counties each week.
