WAKE COUNTY, NC (WNCT) – A Wake County deputy was fired after a judge said he lied in court.
Police said Robert Davis told a judge a woman he arrested for DWI refused to take a breathalyzer test. Her attorney said that’s not true; she was asking for a witness, which is her legal right.
Davis told a judge under oath that the defendant did not ask for a witness, and did not call anyone.
But a video released now shows she did. In the video, she clearly asked for a witness and tried to make a phone call. Davis even tried to help her with that phone call.
The DA has now thrown out more than 100 other cases Davis was involved in, including DWI cases where drivers were driving two or even three times above the legal limit.
