Police: Arrest made in Christmas Eve murder of Rocky Mount man

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WNCT) – The Rocky Mount Police Department makes an arrest in a Christmas Eve murder.

Police said Caleb Wardrett was arrested and charged with 1st Degree Murder on March 22nd.

Investigators said the arrest stems from a Dec. 24th incident on Rick Bone Road in Franklin County. Deputies said when they responded to the scene they found the body of 28-year-old Anthony Howard near an abandoned car.

Since December, the Rocky Mount Police Department and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office have been conducting a joint investigation into the homicide.

Police are still investigating the incident.
