Local artist getting featured in ‘Barbershop: The Next Cut’

GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) – One local artist is determined to stay true to himself and this community. Edgecombe County native Richard Wilson will have five of his pieces featured in “Barbershop: The Next Cut.”

All of his paintings are of his daughter or other family members, and all of the scenes are Eastern North Carolina landscapes.

Wilson said people should never forget where they come from. He hopes his artwork will always reflect this part of the state. He said art is something he will always be passionate about.

“I saw how my work affected people and there was just something in me that made me feel good that what I could do could make a difference in someone’s life,” Richard Wilson said.

On Friday night, a number of Wilson’s pieces will be on display at Emerge Art Gallery in Uptown Greenville. For more, visit richardwilsonart.com.
