Pedestrian struck and killed in Craven Co.

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – A pedestrian is dead after she was struck by a vehicle.

It happened Saturday on NC 55 West near Ipock Lane in Craven County.

Troopers said 41-year-old Lainey L. Lockey of New Bern was walking in the roadway when she was hit by a Ford minivan operated by a Cove City woman. It’s believed that Lockey was impaired at the time of the incident. The operator of the Ford minivan had not consumed alcohol and no other impairment of any other controlled substance is suspected.

The cause of the crash was determined to be pedestrian violation.
