Controlled demolition near Washington starting Tuesday

WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) – Beaufort County Emergency Services say a controlled demolition will happen all week starting Tuesday at the VOA site near Washington.

They will be removing towers and large structures on the property due to high electric bills and no need for the equipment. For the removal, Emergency Services warns residents they will use controlled explosives and it may be loud for a brief amount of time.

The demolition is expected to last about a week.
