Untreated wastewater discharged in Kinston

KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) – Kinston Public Services tells 9 On Your Side there was a discharge of untreated wastewater.

It happened Friday night between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. An estimated 232,125 gallons was discharged from a manhole located in an area adjacent to Forrest Street Lift Station in the 1300 block of Decatur Street. The untreated wastewater was discharged into a wetland area connected to the Adkin Branch.

The Water Resources Division responded and stopped the overflow.
