CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — Authorities and the North Carolina High School Athletic Association are reviewing a scuffle that included a fan running onto the court late in a state championship basketball game.
Spokesman Randy Young with UNC-Chapel Hill’s Department of Public Safety said Monday that university police will review video and other information to determine further action.
Young says a fan was ejected from the arena after running onto the court when a tussle began between Concord Robinson and Fayetteville Sanford in the final seconds of Saturday’s Class 3-A men’s championship. It’s unclear if that was the same person seen on video striking a Robinson player in an incident that nearly escalated into a brawl.
In a statement, commissioner Que Tucker says the association is reviewing video to determine whether players could be disciplined.
