Early detection, prevention encouraged on World Kidney Day

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Doctors are making another push to encourage early detection and prevention on World Kidney Day.

This year’s theme is “Kidney Disease and Children. Act Early To Prevent It!”

The event included doctors, nutritionists, and 3-year-old Austin Nahrebecki. He’s ECU’s youngest kidney transplant recipient.

Doctors said a healthy lifestyle plays in the prevention of kidney diseases.

The three year old was born with a blockage in his kidneys and required a transplant at 19-months-old.
