JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Kids in Jacksonville will have a new way to cool off from the heat this summer, all thanks to the city’s first splash pad.
The splash pad will be located at Jack Amyette Recreation Center on South Drive
It’s currently under construction and officials say they expect it to be complete within 45 days.
For city officials, they say the new development will be hugely beneficial for folks in the community.
“We want to be able to broaden our horizons and a splash pad aquatics facility is the first for Jacksonville, so we’re diligent about providing new things to the citizens,” said Susan Baptist, the City of Jacksonville’s Director of Recreation Services.
“We want to be able to provide healthy areas and family friendly park systems so that everyone can enjoy it,” Baptist continued saying.
The splash pad will be free and open to the public and was paid for by a community development grant of nearly 220 thousand dollars.
