Voyager Academy blows by South Creek in 1A Boys Regional, 71-50

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (NCHSAA) – Voyager Academy jumped all over South Creek in the first quarter grabbing a 16-2 lead after one frame. The Vikings never looked back.

South Creek, in fact, outscored Voyager in the second and third quarters, but could not dig out of the 14 point first quarter hole they found themselves in.

Voyager had three players in double figures, Jay Huff leading the way with 18 points and seven rebounds. He also added four blocks. Chance Green added 15 points and six rebounds while China Jones chipped in 10 points and eight boards.

Voyager as a team was very efficient from the field, shooting 48% on the afternoon while holding South Creek to 37.7%.  The Cougars did not help themselves from the line, shooting just 42.9% on the day. The Vikings also out-rebounded South Creek 41-24.

Voyager will make their first appearance in the state championship game next Saturday in Chapel Hill.
