Book sale held in New Bern this weekend

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – A local library is selling old books to fund summer programs.

The Friends of The Library in New Bern hosted the annual book sale at the Sudan Shriners building in New Bern. The book sale started Friday and ends Sunday afternoon. Thousands of books from fiction to history are on sale for less than two dollars.

Vice President of the New Bern Library, Ellen Sarah, says the proceeds go to summer reading programs and special speakers.  She says it’s great to see parents bring their children to the sale.

“It begins a family habit of reading and a lifelong love for reading, and if that doesn’t happen early then it never happens,” Sarah explained.

Sunday you can bring a bag to fill up with books for only 5 dollars. The sale ends at 4 pm.
