Annual Black History Quiz Bowl held in Greenville

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Dozens of students participated in the annual Black History Quiz Bowl in Greenville Sunday afternoon.

Fifth through ninth grade students answered questions related to the history of African Americans.

Event organizer Amber Harris said the event teaches kids things they don’t necessarily learn day to day. She said the questions are different every year and the students have time to practice before the quiz.

“Our children need to know their history, from once they came, we may not talk about it that much in our school systems, but we are bringing it to light,” explained Amber Harris.

The Pitt County 4-H, The Greenville Housing Authority, and the APHA Pharaohs were some of the teams participating. The team that wins gets a hundred dollars and a trophy.
