2 men arrested for animal cruelty in Havelock

HAVELOCK, N.C. (WNCT) – Two men are arrested for felony animal cruelty.

Havelock Police Department tells 9 On Your Side, they were alerted to a case of possible animal neglect on Monday, February 22nd at 108 Poplar Road.

On February 21st, they received a tip informing them that there were dead and dying 2.5-month-old Husky mix puppies in a locked shed in the backyard of the home.

Police arrested 25-year-old Jamie Parris and 24-year-old Ronald Lyons at the home. Both Parris and Lyons have been arrested and charged with 5 counts each of Felony Animal Cruelty resulting in death.

Both men were placed on a $25,000 bond at the Craven County Detention Center.

Their court appearance is set for February 29,2016, in New Bern.
