Onslow Co. School District looking to hire bus drivers

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The Onslow County School District is looking to hire bus drivers.

School officials say they are in dire need of at least 10 full time drivers.

They also need part time and substitute drivers for the eight bus districts within the county.

The transportation director says many of their current drivers are retiring or moving and bus route times have decreased due to the lack of drivers.

“Right now we’re having to double up quite a bit and when we double up with our drivers then the routes are longer so the kids are having to stand outside longer and getting to school later,” said Transportation Director Mike Henderson.

Those interested in applying can submit an application on the Onslow County School District’s website.

The last day to apply will be March 4th.
