Tourism leaders helping grow industry in Greenville

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – State tourism leaders held an event Thursday to help Greenville business owners grow their customer base and tourists in the city.

Members of the state’s tourism office spent the day at the Greenville Hilton helping people market their businesses.

Visit North Carolina executive director Wit Tuttell said tourism in the state is a $21 billion industry employing 200,000 people.

“We hope what they come away with is being more engaged,” Tuttell said. “We want tourism partners to be more engaged with their local tourism office and the folks here in Greenville do a great job of promoting the state.”

This is the first time a tourism event like this was held in Greenville.
