Silver Alert cancelled after woman is found clinging to tree in Tarboro

TARBORO, N.C. (WNCT) – A woman who went missing Wednesday from a Tarboro Walmart has been found.

Tarboro Police tells us they found “Constance Collins” around 10:30 a.m. by a search team.

A Silver Alert was issued in the search for Ms. Collins. She is believed to suffer from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

After search efforts by officers with the Tarboro Police Department and Pinetops Police Department, members of the Tarboro Fire Department  were unsuccessful overnight, teams were redeployed Thursday morning.

With search crews assigned by foot, vehicle and boat, the Tarboro Fire Department’s Swift Water Rescue Team discovered Ms. Collins clinging to a branch in the Tar River nearly 1 to 2 miles behind the Walmart where she went missing.

The rescue team was able to guide Ms. Collins to safety. She was then taken to Vidant Edgecombe Hospital where she is being held for observation and receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
