UPDATE: Firefighters respond to bus fire at a Pitt Co. elementary school

WINTERVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Firefighters put out a fire involving a bus parked at a Pitt County elementary school.

Pitt County Communications tells 9 On Your Side the Winterville Fire Department was dispatched to Creekside Elementary School just after 4:30 Tuesday morning in reference to a bus fire.


A Winterville Fire spokesperson says the bus is a total loss, costing around $90,000.

Firefighters put out the fire in less than an hour.

No one was around at the time. On Tuesday afternoon, a district spokesman told WNCT the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Another bus was brought in to take the students on their typical routes.
