Six people taken to hospital after Duplin Co. crash

FAISON, N.C. (WNCT) — Six people are in the hospital after a car accident near Faison Saturday night. N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper J. M. Gurganus says a woman was driving with her three grandchildren on N.C. 403, just eight miles East of Faison. The driver failed to yield at a four way stop and was hit by another car.

The grandmother was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville in critical condition. Her grandchildren, all under the age of 10, were taken to the hospital. The oldest child was airlifted to Greenville and the other children were taken to Vidant Duplin in Kenansville. There were two people in the other car involved who were taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The condition of the others involved is not known. The names of all those involved have not been released at this time.

Trooper Gurganus says charges are pending.
