Greenville City Council discusses ways to make the city better

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Greenville’s City Council continued its annual planning retreat. Council and staff members met all day to discuss how to move the city forward.

The City of Greenville approved a long-term bond strategy meaning there will be large economic development every four to five years. Another item up for discussion was the Tar River and Town Common area. Councilman McLean Godley says the city needs to move forward so people want to come to Greenville.

“We get people to come to Greenville on days other than Pirate football Saturday and they would stay in our city and eat our food, pay and stay in our hotels and it would increase our tax revenues and expand them.”

Godley says he wants to see a sports area with a basketball court, baseball diamonds and plenty of walking space at Town Common.
