HATTERAS, N.C. (WNCT) — The Coast Guard says a ferry carrying five passengers and six crew members in Hatteras Inlet grounded Saturday morning. Crews were dispatched at 11:30 a.m. when they got the call that ferry Roanoke was aground.

Along with the eleven people, three vehicles were on board during the incident. All passengers were safely removed and taken to Hatteras Ferry Terminal on the tip of the island in the Outer Banks. No injuries, vessel damage or pollution were reported by the crew.

The Coast Guard was able to remove the ferry on Sunday morning. The ferry was able to return to Hatteras Ferry North on its own.
