Man arrested for stealing golf carts, trailers, and lawn mowers in Martin Co.

WILLIAMSTON, N.C.(WNCT) – The Martin County Sheriff’s Office makes an arrest in a rash of stolen golf carts, lawn mowers, and utility trailers.

The Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested 63-year-old James Williams on Wednesday.

Williams faces multiple felony charges for Larceny and Possession of Stolen Property.

Deputies say the arrest comes after surveillance footage showed Williams attempting to steal a utility trailer from a lawn care company.

As a result of the investigation, Williams was linked to other larcenies in the Bear Grass community and in Beaufort County.

The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing.

Deputies are attempting to recover some of the stolen property and return the items to their rightful owners.

Williams was taken to the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail and given a $250,000 bond.
