Jacksonville officials meet to discuss increased opportunity for tourism

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Jacksonville officials met Thursday with the Tourism Development Authority in hopes of bringing big bucks to businesses in the area.

The meeting lasted over an hour talking about some of the cities large festivals and parades.

They say some of the biggest investments they can make going forward are things that are unique to the area.

“Things that we can build on what our core strengths are of to receive a hero’s welcome in the city of Jacksonville,” said Glenn Hargett, the Assistant City Manager of Jacksonville.

The group wants to capitalize on hosting 5K events, military trade shows and a bridal expo, all which are expected in the coming months.
