GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT)- Lots of people in our area are preparing for Panther nation to take over Santa Clara. While most of us will be watching on the big screen, one ECU student will be in the stands.
On any given day you can find Russell Hunnicutt on ECU’s campus walking to class or working at Sup Dogs. Next week will be a little different, thanks to the ultimate Christmas gift.
Russell Hunnicutt said, “I got a ticket to go to the Super Bowl”
Hunnicutt will head to Santa Clara on Monday for his first NFL game ever. He grew up watching the panthers and when he found out they were going to the Super Bowl his already amazing Christmas gift became what he says is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
“I thought it was a prank and then when I found out it was real it was the most ecstatic I’ve ever been,” Hunnicutt said.
Next week instead of making burgers he’ll be making some noise in Levi Stadium.
“I said even if the panthers weren’t going I was going to go, wear a Panthers jersey and be screaming go Panthers the whole time,” Hunnicutt said. “But to know that they are going, I’m going to be yelling my head off for them.”
His first Panthers game, his first NFL game, all in Santa Clara for Super Bowl 50, it doesn’t get much sweeter than that.
Hunnicutt plans on documenting his trip for us, and we’ll share it with you along the way.
