Super Bowl could mean super sales for local bars in North Carolina

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Super Bowl Sunday is just around the corner and the teams aren’t the only ones getting ready for the big game.

With the Panthers making a nearly undefeated run to the 50th Championship Game, many bars are expecting a big turnout.

Super bowl Sunday means super sales for many bars in North Carolina as the state’s home team heads to the 50th Championship Game.

“We’re definitely going to turn it panther blue in here, we’re very proud of the Panthers making it to the Super Bowl so we’re going to do everything we can to represent,” said Amber Spratt, the Manager at Duck’s Grille and Bar.

And represent they will. As folks begin to plan their Super Bowl events, Duck’s Grille and Bar in Jacksonville is already starting to prep for game day.

That preparation includes making sure all orders are placed, “On a given week we’ll go through two or 300 pounds of wings but I think just for the Super Bowl we’ll probably go between three and 500 pounds of wings just for that one day,” said Michael Williams, the Executive Chef at the Grille.

Beer and liquor orders are stocked, “We sell a whole lot of Fire Ball so we’ll bring in a couple half gallons of that, other than that we have $2 domestics so the beer guys will come in and bulk up the beer a little bit and we sell plenty,” said Spratt.

And prizes are lined up to keep folks wanting more as the Panthers and Bronco’s fight for the Super Bowl title.

“Lots of Panthers fans, we come in and decorate all the tables, give away a lot of prizes, get with the vendors, and they give us lots of things to give away,” said Spratt.

And with a large military community you can expect a good turnout for both Broncos fans and Panthers fans.

“There may be a little bit of back and forth, but for the most part we really think that the Panther blue is going to take over,” said Spratt.

The manager also says if you’re planning to head out to bars make sure to get there early because it’s going to be one big Panthers party.
