GREENVILLE, NC (WCNT)- It’s the same story all around town; businesses are either running low or sold out completely. They also say more gear is on the way.
Business owners say it’s been a season-long trend, as the panthers keep winning so do their sales.
Omega Sports store manager Brian Taylor said, “At the beginning of the season I think the panthers fans were kind of like everyone else, and then we started getting 8-0, 9-0, 10-0, it’s really starting to build as the season went on.”
“Kids are having birthday parties they want panthers involved, so it’s just been a really big deal for us,” Party Maker employee Jennifer Parker said.
Shoppers were out in full force Monday preparing for game day. One parent says her son wants a Panther’s themed birthday party. Another shopper says it’s time for her to finally get a team shirt.
Whatever the reason, business owners are doing all they can to meet the demand.
“We will be double ordering having a lot more inventory in,” Parker said.
Taylor said, “We’ve got people driving from Greensboro later today with shirts.”
Taylor says the Panther’s hysteria could make their month.
“We’re hoping it will bring people in the door. We’re hoping that it’ll sell more merchandise. We’re hoping that it will help us have a good positive month,” Taylor said.
Businesses in our area will continue to re-stock and order panthers merchandise until game day arrives.
