SNEADS FERRY, N.C. (AP) — A man impersonating a North Carolina Highway patrolman has stopped motorists in the coastal community of Sneads Ferry twice in three days.
Local media outlets report a man wearing a jacket with a patrol patch and driving a dark Dodge Charger with blue lights stopped a woman driving alone Monday.
On Wednesday evening, another woman pulled over when the vehicle flashed its blue lights. The man tried to get the woman to get into his car but she called 911 even though the man said she couldn’t.
The Highway Patrol is advising motorists to call 911 if an unmarked Charger tries to pull them over. Authorities say a legitimate officer will have no problem if you call 911.
The man is wanted for impersonating a law enforcement officer.
