New Bern teen facing additional charges after January chase by police

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – A Craven County teen is facing more charges after an incident earlier in January.

16-year-old Landon Lee Meadows of New Bern has been charged with thirteen counts of felony breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, four counts of larceny, and trespassing.

The charges follow an incident on January 3rd, when the New Bern Police Department charged the teen with felony speeding to elude arrest, resisting/obstructing/delaying an officer, hit and run, felony possession of a stolen vehicle, and driving without a license.

An investigation by deputies with the Craven County Sheriff’s Office  found the vehicle had been stolen from Riverside Chrysler. Meadows was subsequently charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle.

A day later, Heavy Duty Truck & Diesel Repair Company reported thirteen vehicles had been broken into. Investigators determined Meadows was responsible for the vehicle break-ins.

He’s in the Craven County Jail under a $150,000 secured bond.
